I was inspired compelled to whip up this little gallery after seeing Natalie’s recent review of Life After Genius on her new book review blog.

I think these recent book covers are conceptually similar. I’m also quite confident that there’s a bunch more out there that belong on this page, but I can’t recall them just now. Let’s make a deal: I’ll add more as I think of them and I’ll solicit your suggestions.

you’re QUOTE confident? i’m so excited to see you making typos like the rest of us…

      Thank you. All fixed.

what about ‘stiff’…it’s got a foot with a toe tag…and it was an educational read.

pannnie sez: ooh. Mary Roach. Read that one. If I remember correctly, it’s kind of horizontally oriented, foreshortened and reminiscent of Caravaggio’s famous painting of Jesus. I’m going to be a stickler and go with vertical orientations, with two feet.

ps. do you really grin and gyrate like that waving faux panny on your sidebar? to be honest, she makes me nervous.

Nah. I thought it might encourage people to think I was friendly and/or harmless, not creepy.

I’ve changed it for a while but before you ask, I don’t have all-white hair but I think it’s cool, like Emmylou Harris’. I also like shocks of white hair (more Bonnie Raitt than Elsa Lanchester in Bride of Frankenstein, though).
